Testing, Classification and Awards in Europe

SMART STONE underwent reaction-to-fire testing in Europe and was classified B-s1,d0 in accordance with PN-EN 13501-1+A1:2010. The tests were conducted by the Building Research Institute (ITB) in Poland.

Poland — B-s1,d0 Reaction-to-Fire Classification

SMART STONE was tested by the Fire Research Laboratory of the Building Research Institute (ITB) in Poland. Based on the test results, SMART STONE was classified as B-s1,d0 for reaction to fire.

Result: B-s1,d0

What B-s1,d0 means:

B — very limited contribution to fire;
s1 — low smoke production;
d0 — no flaming droplets or particles.

Why it matters: the classification gives customers independent, documented evidence of how SMART STONE performs in reaction-to-fire testing. This is particularly relevant for facade and interior projects where the reaction to fire of finishing materials is an important design consideration.

Classification conditions: SMART STONE applied to A1- or A2-classified substrates without an air gap.

SMART STONE Fire Testing by ITB

The B-s1,d0 classification was established using the results of two tests carried out on SMART STONE. These tests evaluate the material's behaviour under different fire exposure conditions and are used within the European classification system for construction products.

Small Flame Exposure Test

Test date: 5 July 2017

What was tested: the behaviour of SMART STONE when directly exposed to a small flame.

Why it matters: this test shows how the material reacts to a small ignition source. The results were used to determine the final B-s1,d0 classification for SMART STONE.

ITB SBI test report for SMART STONE according to PN-EN 13823

SBI Test — Exposure to a Single Burning Item

Laboratory: Fire Research Laboratory, ITB, Poland

Test method: PN-EN 13823+A1:2014

Test date: 5 July 2017

What was tested: the behaviour of SMART STONE when exposed to a single burning item. The test evaluates fire growth, heat and smoke production, as well as the occurrence of flaming droplets or particles.

Why it matters: the SBI test is one of the methods used in the European reaction-to-fire classification of construction products. The results of this test, together with the small flame test, formed the basis for the B-s1,d0 classification of SMART STONE.
