In Israel, flexible stone underwent laboratory testing relevant to facade and finishing applications. In the Israeli documents, the material is identified as Flex Decor / Elastic Stone.
The testing included rainwater penetration, resistance to salt crystallisation in a marine environment and sound absorption measurements in accordance with ISO 354. The page also includes a document confirming the company's membership in the Israeli Green Building Council.
The elastic coating was tested by the Building Materials Laboratory of The Standards Institution of Israel. The test evaluated water penetration through the coating during rainwater exposure.
Organisation: The Standards Institution of Israel, Building Materials Laboratory
Document: Test Report No. 9411914067
Standard: SI 1731, clause 3.5.3
Material: elastic coating with the appearance of natural stone
What was tested: rainwater penetration through the coating applied to silicate blocks.
Result: water did not penetrate to the reverse side of the tested specimens. No signs of moisture were observed on the reverse side.
In Israel, Flex Decor / Elastic Stone was tested for resistance to salt crystallisation in accordance with SI 2378 Part 1. The reports specifically identify the relevant exposure condition as a marine environment.
Laboratory: SYSTEM Advanced Laboratories Ltd., Israel
Document: Report No. 650896-1
Project: 61767
Standard: SI 2378 Part 1
Material: Flex Decor — Elastic Stone
Exposure condition: Sea environment
What was tested: resistance of the elastic decorative coating to salt crystallisation.
Result after 15 cycles: no cracking, disintegration or separation of layers. The relative change in mass of the tested specimens was 0.2%, 0.2% and 0.9%, against a maximum requirement of 3%.
Conclusion: Compliance — the tested specimens met the test requirements.
Laboratory: SYSTEM Advanced Laboratories Ltd., Israel
Document: Report No. 650896-2
Project: 61767
Standard: SI 2378 Part 1
System: Flex Decor — Elastic Stone with Sika/Sahal adhesive
Exposure condition: Sea environment
What was tested: resistance of the system comprising the elastic coating and adhesive to salt crystallisation.
Result after 15 cycles: no cracking, disintegration or separation of layers. The relative change in mass of both tested specimens was 0.4%, against a maximum requirement of 3%.
Conclusion: Compliance — the tested specimens met the test requirements.
The sound absorption of a test assembly incorporating Elastic Stone was also measured in Israel in a reverberation room in accordance with the international standard ISO 354.
Laboratory: Izosound Laboratories Ltd., Israel
Document: Report No. 1250-1
Standard: ISO 354
Test date: 25 October 2015
Test assembly: 3 mm Elastic Stone, adhesive and 16 mm gypsum board
What was tested: sound absorption of the test assembly in a reverberation room.
Result: sound absorption was measured in accordance with ISO 354. The report gives a weighted sound absorption coefficient of αw = 0.10.
